ACHIEVEMENT REPORT OF LUNGLEI DEF FOR THE YEAR 2015

  • Website: Lunglei District Police Website( www.splunglei.mizoram.gov.in) was successfully created and launched on 14th August 2015. It was launched with the objective of familiarizing and acquainting the public with Policing work which will be useful and helpful for maintenance of peace and tranquility in the District. It contains various information relating to crime statistics, law & order situation, news item and information pertaining to the general public, etc.

  • Regulation and Control of Traffic:
  • Law & Order: There was no incident of serious law & order problem resulting in loss of human life or damage of public property during 2015. All instances of law & order situations were handled tactfully. This was achieved due to effective policing coupled with sound and elaborate intelligence network developed by the police.
  • Physical Training Exercise: In order to improve the physical health and fitness of police personnel, physical training parade was conducted by Lunglei DEF on every Wednesday and Friday morning.
  • Trainings & Awareness Programmes: In-Service trainings for police officers of various ranks was conducted on a monthly basis wef, March – November, 2015. In these trainings, diverse topics ranging from Laws, Human Rights, Human Trafficking, Law & Order, Crowd Management, Gender Sensitization, etc were covered and this has tremendously benefitted the trainees.

The response time of Lunglei Police has considerably reduced and the police could reach the place of occurrence to a call or situation within 20 minutes in Lunglei town area.

Late night patrolling under the command and control of a police officer was carried out every night since 19.1.2015 and this has considerably reduced crime rate.

Due to effective border policing, there is no report of illegal immigration from across the border of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Regular mobile checking and effective control and regulation of traffic have greatly prevented vehicular accident in Lunglei district. On every holiday including Saturdays and Sundays, mobile checking of vehicles was conducted in Lunglei town by Traffic Policemen which had ensured the safety of pedestrians and also reduce road accidents.

During the Christmas festive season, Highway patrolling and mobile checking was conducted in and around Lunglei town- Sazaikawn, Zobawk & Haulawng.

In order to ensure free flow of vehicular traffic, several parking lots were created and modified in Lunglei town.

Total amount of compounding fine realized during the reported period is – Rs 8,45,800/-

On 10th Oct.2015, Training cum Career Guidance Programme of Local Youth for entry into Indian Army/Para-military Forces was conducted at Saikuti Hall, Lunglei and 243 students and several interested youth attended the programme. Resource persons from Assam Rifles and BSF delivered lectures.

Besides the above, awareness programmes / trainings were undertaken in which officers of Lunglei DEF delivered lectures on various topics- traffic rules, child rights, human rights, cyber crimes, etc.
